Gmelina
Gmelina arborea is a species of flowering plant in the verbenaceae family.
It is fast growing and has been planted extensively in Costa Rica since the 1960s, so it now covers approximately 65,000 hectares.
Its heartwood is pale brown to yellowish brown, with a generally straight grain.
It is used in construction, marine carpentry, joinery, parquetry, cabinet work, decorative veneer, sports equipment (ex: oars), musical instruments, bodywork, sculpture...and its working characteristics are excellent.
In addition, it is suitable for making curved wooden objects that are easy to turn.
Once treated, it is a durable wood, resistant to rot and termites.
